Dart Realty Chief Operating Officer, Jackie Doak, spoke at the National Association of Real Estate Editors’ (NAREE) 47th Annual Real Estate Journalism Conference, titled “Designs on the New Urban Grid”. She was joined by Steve Nygren of Serenbe and New Urbanist legend Andres Duany to discuss the future of the New Urbanism movement. The panel discussion, which was held in Atlanta, was titled “The Next Evolution of New Urbanism”. Jackie provided details on the goals for Camana Bay, Dart Realty’s 500-acre mixed-use development that is the first example of New Urbanism in the Caribbean.
“Camana Bay ushered New Urbanism into the Caribbean,” Jackie Doak said. “It is an honor to be included in this discussion about the future of walkable communities and smart growth with Andres Duany, a man who many consider to be the godfather of the New Urbanist movement.”
Camana Bay stretches from Seven Mile Beach to North Sound and opened in December 2007. It includes commercial and residential buildings along with restaurants, shops, sports facilities and a school. There are events, attractions and family-friendly entertainment. About 30% of Camana Bay is open space enhanced by courtyards, botanic walkways and gathering spaces.
The annual conference also held discussions on hotels, home building, mortgages, luxury housing and online real estate.
